Bon IverIf a Sunday afternoon could commission a soundtrack to be played along with the meditative introspection of watching dust particles float in and out of sunbeams crossing through the room, the lowering of your guard when you’re finally alone and able to take your past week in, that Sunday afternoon’s commission would probably sound like Bon Iver.

Even when he’s part of other projects (voluntary and not), his sound and his influence remains firmly intact, as is the case with NiT GriT’s remix of “Holocene.”  Despite NiT GriT taking borderline-sacrilegious artistic license, the song still carries Bon Iver’s watermark in its mesmerizing, sweet harmonies.

Caution: If you haven’t heard Bon Iver before, you will probably be listening to little else for the next week.  Your friends will be like, “Holy shit listen to the new Drake!”  and you’ll respond, “That sounds great, but the song ‘The Woods’ is going to blow. your. mind!”  There’s nothing wrong with that, but just prepare for some skeptical reactions.

Justin Vernon (aka Bon Iver) is also versatile in his own right, collaborating with Kanye West as well as half of the Minneapolis music scene with the short-lived Gayngs.  So this Sunday, be flexible, be happy and watch the dust particulates.

What’s on your mind?
