Even if you’re like me and you generally hate jam bands, you’ll still find a way to love Sound Tribe. (aka STS9)
My experience with jam bands has made me feel impatient with their long, trailing songs that echo, mimic and riff on the lead melody reminiscent in a lot of ways of styles of classical music. There are pieces, movements and chord changes just like the large orchestral pieces, but in this case the band numbers five instead of a standard* 40 or so.
The rules are less rigid, the instruments and shifts are anything but traditional, and somehow they find a way to be more compelling and captivate large, otherwise ADD-prone audiences to try and keep up through two and three hour sets. Challenge accepted.
